June, 11, 2016: Sensation prevailed in Trimurty Nagar area when unidentified person took away an idol of Lord Vansupujya at Jain Temple under the jurisdiction of Gohalpur police station in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
The stolen idol was made with eight metals amounting to lakhs of rupees. Gohalpur police informed that Akhilesh Badkul, President of Trimurty Nagar Jain Mandir Samiti informed that the temple was locked after worship at about 9 pm on Monday. On Tuesday morning, a worker reached the temple for cleanliness work. When he opened the doors of main temple, he found that the Ashthadhatu idol of Lord Vansupujya was missing from the temple. Learning about the incident, a large number of devotees and residents gathered at the temple premises and condemned the orking of police.
Receiving the information, Additional Superintendent of Police (West), Vipul Shrivastava (IPS) along with police team reached the spot and started investigation into the case. Finger print experts and dog squad were called on the spot for further investigations into the case.ASP, Vipul Shrivastava informed that in prima facie of the investigations, it has been confirmed that the thief entered the temple from first floor, which is still under construction. Two teams have been constituted for investigations into the case, while police are scanning close circuit television cameras installed in residential area near the temple.
